We Still Have The Soul is a committed narrative, I would say an intimate one. Luis Casadevall, as far as I can tell, does not denounce or criticize through his photos; he simply bears witness with the resources at his disposal and shows us what he has seen. And that visual testimony, expressed with more cries of pain than with laughter and shouts of joy, is what now envelops the soul of this city—which is my city, and which, heartbreakingly, resembles less and less each day the city it should be. Yet I trust that its soul, if it truly is a soul and behaves as such, will therefore be immortal. Amen.

We Still Have The Soul es una narrativa comprometida, diría que íntima. Luis Casadevall, hasta donde puedo ver, no denuncia ni critica a través de sus fotografías; simplemente da testimonio con los recursos que tiene a su disposición y nos muestra lo que ha visto. Y ese testimonio visual, expresado con más gritos de dolor que con risas y gritos de alegría, es lo que ahora envuelve el alma de esta ciudad —que es mi ciudad, y que, desgarradoramente, se parece cada día menos a la ciudad que debería ser. Sin embargo, confío en que su alma, si verdaderamente es un alma y se comporta como tal, será por ello inmortal. Amén.
